    Below are answers to frequently asked questions.  If you have a question that is not addressed below please e-mail for assistance.  Thank you for your membership!

    1. I am not receiving e-mail communications (newsletters, updates, meeting notices, etc.) from SAHRA.
      • First make sure you have an active membership profile established on the SAHRA website and you do not have the "Opt-Out" option checked.  If both of these statements are true please continue reading below.  If you need assistance with establishing a membership profile please contact the current Membership Chair.
      • Please contact your IT department for assistance.  Explain that Southwest Area Human Resources Association (an affiliate of SHRM) is a professional organization you belong to and would like to receive e-mails from them.  The e-mails will come from "".  Ask them to consider adding the e-mail address as a safe sender and making  any necessary adjustments to your e-mail filter so you can receive communications.
    2. Are the monthly SAHRA programs qualified for professional development credits (PDCs) with SHRM and/or HRCI?
      • Monthly programs are submitted to SHRM for PDC approval.  Once approved we receive a submission code which is printed on take away sheets provided at the monthly meetings.  Please utilize this information to track your PDCs.
      • Programs are not submitted to HRCI for pre-approval; however, you can utilize the information on the SHRM PDC take away sheets to manually enter the program for credit with HRCI.
    3. How do I obtain more information about becoming SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certified?

    4. Does SAHRA participate in volunteer events?
      • Yes!  Our Community Relations Director coordinates volunteer events throughout the year.  Please contact our current Community Relations Director for additional information or suggestions.  Click here to access the current board listing.
    5. My business/ employer would like to advertise with SAHRA, who do I contact?

    6. How are dues payments calculated?
      • SAHRA keeps dues simple.  The membership year runs January- December annually no matter when you initially join.  Our membership drive starts in October and we begin collecting dues for the next year.  We typically host an 'early bird' drawing for individuals who renewal their membership before the December social.
    7. How are my dues used?
      • We do our best to be responsible stewards of member funds.  The annual budget is compiled in the fall then brought forth to the membership typically at the January meeting.  If you need a copy please e-mail the current Secretary/Treasurer or e-mail  Click here to access the current board listing.  
    8. How do I suggest a speaker or speaker topic?
      • We are always open to suggestions!  Please e-mail your speaker or topic suggestions to the current Programs Director and  Click here to access the current board listing.
    9. Who do I contact with suggestions or general feedback?

    10. Do you post open HR positions?
      • Our current policy is not to post positions.  We highly encourage individuals seeking new opportunities to come to the monthly meetings and network with other members.  
    11. I would like to become a board member, what is the process?
      • Board positions are on a two year rotation.  Each year a different set of positions open up for election or upon occasion a position will open up mid-term due to a job transfer.  Please contact any board member or e-mail at anytime if you are interested in serving on the board.  We welcome new members to help our all volunteer board!   Click here to access the current board listing.
    12. My company would like information on an HR related topic (for example what software other companies are using for payroll processing, etc.) how do I go about circulating it to other members?
      • SAHRA can help you obtain information from members via different avenues...part of a weekly e-mail, Facebook posting, monthly newsletter request and/or meeting announcement.  Basically, we are here to help you!  Start the process by e-mailing with your request.
