Carla Hixson with Train ND will be our speaker for February. Her topic is “Creating an Environment of Innovation: Leadership’s Role.” According to a recent McKinsey survey, innovation is the most important leadership skill during economic recovery. Innovative organizations have an advantage: reinventing their products, services, and business processes to keep them ahead of the competition. While innovation is often driven by business owners and senior executives, all leaders within an organization play an important role. Leaders can create an environment where creativity flourishes…or one where it quickly perishes. So how can you encourage innovation? How can leaders create an environment where new ideas and appropriate risk-taking is valued?
During this Session TrainND will discuss:
· How leaders can inadvertently deter innovation, and how to avoid those behaviors.
· How leaders can handle ideas that might not work without discouraging innovative thinking.
· How to equip yourself and other leaders to reward success and recognize effort for innovative thinking.
Carla Hixson is the Associate Vice President for Continuing Education, Training and Innovation (CETI) at Bismarck State College.
